Island Brač
The island of Brač belongs to the group of Central Dalmatian islands and is the largest of the Dalmatian islands with an area of 394 km2.

Highest hill of the island: Vidova Gora (778 m),it is the highest hill of Adriatic islands.
Capital: Supetar with cca 4 thousand of inhabitants. The island of Brač is 6 – 13 km away from the mainland through the Strait o Brač (max. depht 78 m ). To the west is separate from the island of Šolta narrow Split gate and to the south of the island Hvar Hvar canal (91 m). The largest city on the east coast is the port city of Split away from Brač 7 miles, which is about 50 min. by ferry.
Stone of Brač: the island is known by the mining of white marbel. Many famous buildings were built using this stone, for example: the palace of Dioklecian in Split, the cathedral in Trogir and Šibenik, the White-house in Washington, Batty park in New Yorku, the monument of fascism in Addis Abebe, the Parliament and the castle in Wiena, the Parliament in Budapest and many other significant buildings all over the world.
Supetar
Supetar is the largest city on the island of Brač. It´s the administrative, transportation and cultural center on the island. It has a very good ferry connection with Split. With its beautiful natural surroundings, countless beaches and coves, represents a diverse and exciting city. Its Island lifestyle can be felt by wandering through narrow streets, walking around the port surrounded by the palm trees and admiring its stone buildings and monuments. Three km outside of Supetar there is a small village called Mirca. It offers a lot of beautiful olive groves.
Interesting places
Splitska
Splitska cove lies surrounded by mediterranean flora on one side and azure sea on the other, 7 km east of Supetar. There is a castle of the aristocratic family Cerinic.
Škrip
Škrip is the oldest city on the island. There is a museum of the island of Brač and a museum of oil.
Pučišća
Pucisca is a settlement in the middle part of the northern part of the island Brac turned to the channel of Brac, Omis and Makarska. The place is known for its culture and stone mansory. This tradition is continued in Stone Mason school, which is very popular among tourists.
Bol
Bol is the oldest coastal settlement located on the southern side of the island. There is one of the most popular beaches in the Adriatic „Zlatni rat“. It is the greatest symbol of Croatian tourism.
Vidova Gora
Vidova gora (778m) is the highest peak on the island of Brač and among all Adriatic islands, that gives you a spectacular view of the surrounding islands of Hvar, Vis,city of Bol, and the beach Zlatni rat. It is accessible by car.
Nerežišča
In the heart of the island lies one of the strangest places in the world and home to many natural phenomenon. Although the smallest with population, Nerežišća is an economicly growing and in addition to traditional sheep farming, the locals have turned to the development of the stone industry. In the center is the church of St. Peter and Paul, and because of its pine tree on the roof, called the Bonsai of Brač, is one of the most interesting attractions on the island of Brač and a protected monument of nature.
Blaca
Blaca is one of the several hermitages on the island. It began in a stone cave which was used by couple of monks of the Croatian Glagolitic Order as a place of solitude to dedicate themselves to God. The monastery in Blaca was thankfully added to the UNESCO in 2007. Today you can find a museum of weapons, watches and a rare library here. The monastery is still accessible by foot only.
Milna
Milna is located on the north-west side of the island, 23 km from Supetar. It was favourite port of sailors sailing through the Middle Adriatic and is still reputed as the most beautiful and the safest Harbour of Brač.
Selce
Selce is a village where the charm of the place comes from the fact, that every building here is made of Brač white stone. One of the most valuable monuments in Selca, made by the Croatia’s most famous sculptor, Ivan Meštrović, is a statue „The Heart of Jesus“ placed inside Chruch of Christ the King. In Povlja there is also a very important monument for Croatia, and it is „Povaljski prag“, the oldest preserved monument written in Cyrillic script.
Postira
Postira is a small town located on the northern side of the island Brac, 8 km from Supetar, between the towns Splitska and Pucisca. The most famous are the remains of basilica in Lovrecina, a bay with a beautiful sandy beach.
Best Beaches in Brac Island
Golden Horn (Zlatni Rat)
Bol Brac is known for its Zlatni rat beach (Golden horn) and it is unique in the world. Like a little tongue it extends out nearly half a kilometre at a right angle to the sea. The tip is of this renowned beach is constantly changing shape due to the effect of the waves and currents. Measurement have shown that every year Zlatni rat gets longer.
Lovrecina Beach
Lovrečina cove is situated on the northern part of the island of Brač, between Postira and Pučišće, known for its large sandy beach and precious archaeological sites. The remains of the St. Lawrence basilica from the 5th and 6th century can be found in Lovrečina and local pilgrims from the surrounding places visit it on the feast day of St. Lawrence, August 10. You can reach the cove by boat and by car.
Martinica Beach
Martinica Beach near the center Bol is divided into two parts by a small cape with a monastery. East of the monastery there is a beautiful bay with a beautiful view of the surroundings and the island of Hvar. Near the beach, there is a beach bar and a restaurant in the monastery yard, where you can take shelter from the hot sun.
Beach Murvica
The small town of Murvica is located near Bol on the island of Brac, and the eponymous beach with is simply enchanting for every visitor. The view extends to the nearby Vidova gora and beautiful vineyards. You can reach the beach by a steep descent, which does not make it difficult to access. Although it has become more and more visited and popular in recent years, there are still no additional facilities on the beach.
Likva Beach
Not far from Sutivan is the bay Likva with a beautiful pebble beach. The pleasant atmosphere of this quiet bay is contributed by neatly cultivated vineyards and olive groves that stretch all the way to the sea.
Vela Farska Bay
Farska cove, with a beautiful pebble beach, lies on the southern shoreline of the island of Brač. Neatly tilled vineyards that extend all the way to the sea contribute to the pleasant atmosphere of this quiet cove. If you are looking for a holiday away from the city crowds, visit the Farska cove and enjoy the tranquillity and scents of the lush flora of the island of Brač.
Zastup
Zastup beach is located in Splitska on the island of Brac, in a small bay. The beach is easily accessible on foot or by car (you will find parking above the bay) The beach is long, semicircular in shape - to say the least, beautiful, made of a combination of fine white pebbles and sand.
Banj Beach
Banj Is the oldest and one of the most popular beaches in Supetar. It is full of facilities, from a water park and water slides to beach massages, cafes and restaurants. If you wish, you can rent sun loungers and umbrellas and use the showers on the beach. Next to the beach, there is plenty of shade in the pine and tamarisk forest, which makes this place fantastic for the whole family.

SPLIT
Split is the second largest city in Croatia. It is the main urban, cultural and transport center of Dalmatia, from which roads lead both by land and sea to many resorts throughout Dalmatia. Split is a city of classical Roman, Romanesque and Renaissance architecture. Proof of this is the Diocletian´s palace, 1700 years old, which is now a historical monument under the auspices of Unesco. In this palace complex there is a cathedral, which was built in the 7th century on top of mausoleum of Emperor Diocletian and named after the protector of the town of Split, St. Duji.
The city is much more than architectual scenery. It is also a venue for vine experiences, film and theatre festivals, exhibitions, museums, concerts, numerous clubs and bars, events such as Ultra Europe festival. Split is a city of sports too, various sport events are organized here. It is the home of dozen olympic medal winners.
TROGIR
Trogir is a beautiful historic town and harbour on the Adriatic coast in Split-Dalmatia County. The historic city of Trogir is situated on a small island between the Croatian mainland and the island of Čiovo. The historic centre of Trogir has been included in the Unesco list of World Heritage Sites for its Venetian architecture.
OMIŠ
Omiš is situated at the mouth of the Cetina river, the centre of the Omiš Riviera. In this city it is possible to see many cultural and historical sites like churches, monuments, forts, museums. For those, who like active holidays, Omiš is the right destination – the most popular activity is rafting on Cetina river, paragliding, free climbing, scuba diving, sailing.
BLUE GROTTO, BIŠEVO
Blue grotto (Modra špilja) is a unique place on the coast of island of Biševo. It is located near the island of Vis. Blue grotto was created by the sea. By ripping into limestone rock, he excavated the space that is today long 24 meters. The depth of the water is 12 meters and the height is about 15 meters. It all depends on the current sea water level in the cave areas.
